Jumping Ladybugs

On a recent gorgeous October day, Ladybugs practiced their jump roping skills with PE teacher Miss Nancy. (Two were absent; we'll catch them in midair another time.)

Busy times!

When you write a book, you need to share it with a friend!

During our literature circles we are working on different versions of the "3 Little Pigs".
This group is working on a puppet show.

This group is writing a play.

This group is writing a book.

We experience math in many different ways in our classroom.  We make patterns using shapes, colors and sizes.  We count pumpkin seeds, measure pumpkins using tapes measures and unifix cubes,  count the lines on the pumpkin and weigh the pumpkin.  We use pattern blocks to explore geometric shapes.

There are so many good things happening in the Ladybug classroom.  We are learning to follow directions, work as a group, work as an individual, take turns and sit at circle time.  We use math everyday and in ways that are fun.  We read, work on phonics and write books.  I'm sure that when your child comes home and you ask what they did today, they say, "Nothing".  Check out the pictures, you'll find that we are very busy doing "nothing"!

Pumpkin Time!

We've had a very busy week!  We've used manipulatives to solve math equations, read to the Navigators, painted, painted, painted, wrote the letter "a" on the smart board, took apart two sunflowers so we could feed the seeds to the birds, wrote a book about apples, played a little football and went to the pumpkin patch.  Friday afternoon we were all exhausted!
